A few days ago, I posted an article about how to detect phishing schemes and report them. Today, when I opened up my hotmail email account, I received the following email.
Click on it to view larger size.
A couple of things I would like to point out…
- The email address is oosrib@53-online.com (this is not a valid email address from 5th 3rd email domain.)
- There is a zip file attached (5th 3rd doesn’t email account holders zip files.)
- The email was unsolicited.
- It states that my account is locked. So I checked to see if it was and it was not.
I immediately reported this email as phishing.
Remember, close examination and communication is key.
